There's another tax hike looming, but Council keeps spending

The information shown above is from Lancaster Newspapers. According to the article, at the September 12 Columbia Borough Council meeting, Council discussed the possibility of a 31% tax hike in the near future. Council seems reluctant, however, to reduce spending to the point where a tax hike can be avoided.

Last year (December 2018), Council voted unanimously to raise municipal taxes by 1.4 mills, from 6.6 to 8 mills - a 21% increase.

UPDATE: Borough Council passes ordinance to repeal Revolving Loan Fund

In case you missed it: At the July 9, 2019 Columbia Borough Council meeting, Council voted unanimously to pass Ordinance 913-2019, which repealed the the Revolving Loan Fund (Ordinance 897):

Council had unanimously voted to repeal the ordinance at its June 25, 2019 meeting.

Council had set up the Revolving Loan Fund to loan taxpayer money to private business which many taxpayers found objectionable.

We believe that the efforts of the CCCA persuaded Council to repeal this ordinance.
